Black Stars Captain, Stephen Appiah, has declared himself fit for the 2010 Fifa World Cup. The 29 year old made only two appearances for Bologna in the Italian Seria A last season after a long layoff.
Speaking at the launch of the Professional Football Association of Ghana on Friday May 24, Appiah maintained that he is ready to lead the Black Stars at the world cup when the global showpiece begins on June 11 2010.
“I am good, I think that I played the game and I feel fit for the world cup. I wish to ask all of you to pray for the Black Stars in the upcoming world Cup”
Meanwhile 20 players of the senior national team left Accra on Sunday May 23, for Paris to begin a pre tournament camping ahead of the competition.
Stars trainer Milovan Rejavac would use the period to assess the readiness of his players to enable him select a 23 man squad for South Africa.
In an interview with defender John Paintsil and Derrick Boateng on Citi FM the two players stressed the importance of the camping period.
According to them the camping period in France will justify the readiness of each player in the team.
