Desperate job seeking youth of the ruling NDC in Tamale on Thursday July 29, locked up the Tamale Central Office of the National Youth Employment Programme.
Mohammed Sobur, the Tamale Central Coordinator was chased out at the time of the riot by the aggressors who wielded machetes, stones and sticks.
Concerns are that, the Tamale Central Coordinator, Mohammed Sobur allegedly sold NYEP forms that were made available by Hon. Inusah Fuseini, Member of Parliament for the Tamale Central Constituency, for distribution to some jobless youth in his constituency.
The aggressors alleged that only few copies were distributed to each ward in the constituency with the remaining sold out to the disadvantage of the unemployed masses.
They also accused Mohammed Sobur of building a house within a short period since he assumed office as the Tamale Central Constituency Coordinator.
The angry youth also chased away Kwabena Ntow of Filla fm, a Tamale based radio station, who corresponds for Peace fm in Accra.
When contacted, Mohammed Adam Amin alias Abio, Regional Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme regretted the incident but gave the assurance that his office will address the concerns.
