Fire gutted house number A Block 11/1 on the Tamale water works road and claimed the life of an 18 year old Junior High School pupil called Mohammed Naira, alias Commander.
The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be determined despite wide spread rumour that it was caused by electrical fault.
Several properties worth millions of Ghana cedis got destroyed while occupants of the said house have been rendered homeless.
Alhaji Harrunah Abudulai Friday, Mayor of Tamale and officials of the National Disaster Management Organization led by Abdulai Silimboma, the northern regional coordinator were at the scene to console the victims.
NADMO presented relief items comprising student mattresses, blankets, rubber buckets, drinking cups, detergents among other valuables to the victims.
Speaking exclusively to Citi News, Alhaji Abdulai Silimboma said plans were underway to relocate the victims to a temporary abode.
The regional NADMO Boss commended neighbours of that vicinity for their timely response and appealed to Residents of the entire metropolis to adopt safety precautionary measures to curtail such occurrences.
Alhaji Silimboma announced that his outfit has embarked on a regional sensitization programme on the Cerebrospinal meningitis disease and that Yendi, Savelugu and Gushegu have been covered.
