Kpone Power site still lays bare

Kpone Power Project site

Thorough checks by Citi News have confirmed claims by former UK Envoy to Ghana, Mr Craig Murray that virtually nothing has been done at the Kpone Power Project site.

None of the power turbines bought by the Volta River Authority at 70 million dollars from Alsthom has been installed by Zakhem which was paid 80 million dollars to do the fixing.

A team from Citi News visited the sprawling walled site recently and virtually no work has been done towards installing the equipment.

The Citi News team saw several freight containers scattered all over the site. Citi News had earlier, mistakenly, posted pictures of another power plant on our website, citifmonline.com.

They were obviously pictures of the wrong site. The greatly regretted mistake was rectified a few minutes after the pictures were posted. Citi News’ findings at the site confirm claims by Mr Murray and Managing Editor of the Insight News Paper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr that the site still lay bare.

Energy Minister Dr Joseph Oteng Adjei subsequently corroborated those claims in follow up interviews with Citi News.
