Staff and Mgt of Citi FM celebrate 5 years of excellent broadcasting
Your refreshing Radio Brand, Citi 97.3 FM is five years old.

The Adabraka-based radio network, with over a dozen affiliates nationwide, launched its radio operations on the 5th of November 2004, at a time when serious competition in the radio broadcasting industry was at its peak.

Backed by a hardworking and dedicated staff of young talents, the station has within five years, built an enviable brand identity through innovative on-air and outdoor programmes all of which have come to differentiate the Citi FM brand from others in the industry.

Commenting on the significance of this milestone, the Operations Manager of Citi FM, Bernard Koku Avle, noted that the station has many reasons to be excited about the past five years.

“We should be excited because of how far we have come as an organisation…nobody thought that any radio brand could add something different. But am sure you’d be the first to testify that with the advent of Citi FM a number of refreshing thing have been added to radio”.

“The new anchoring style was pioneered by us, the focus on out-door broadcast was championed by Citi FM and now it has a sort of main stay in the industry.

We introduced unique business programming that many thought it was impossible and we introduced events and seminars that some people did not think radio stations could do.

In deed we have promoted Ghanaian music in terms of Music of Ghanaian Origin Concert and added afresh dynamic radio”.

Mr. Avle expressed his appreciation to the listeners of the station for their dedication and input in ensuring the success of the station over the years.

“You’ve had people who call you and say, look, we don’t like what you are doing on our station not your station, the station belongs to them. We have had to correct ourselves, eat humble pie at certain points for mistakes we’ve made”.  He said.

Winning a plethora of awards such as the Most Interactive radio Station in Africa in 2007, Citi FM has etched its name among the major players in the radio industry in Ghana and across the globe.
