The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has promised residents of the Upper West Region that government will complete the Regional Hospital by end of the year.

The residents in the Region have accused government of failing to deliver its promise of constructing a Regional Hospital to cater for the health needs of the people.

Addressing the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs at the Castle last week, President Mahama revealed that government has reached an agreement with Barclays Bank to fund the project.

He promised that despite the challenges being faced by government, the project will be executed.

President Mahama explained saying “the sod was cut for that project for work to commence because all the contracts had been signed with the financier and we expected that the project will take off but unfortunately, the financing run into difficulty and that has led to an overdue delay.”

He, however, assured the Chiefs that disbursement of funds will begin in two weeks to enable the contractor commence work as soon as possible.

“In the memory of the late President, that hospital will be built and it will achieve the purpose for which it was being established,” President Mahama assured.
