The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA-Ghana) has postponed the scheduled Evening Encounter with Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to Tuesday, 21st August, 2012.
The decision follows a request from the NPP Presidential candidate requesting the postponement due to the demise of the late President Mills.
President Mills died on 24th July 2012 at the 37 Military hospital.
The IEA powered Evening Encounters form part of the Institute’s efforts to contribute to issue-based discourse in the Ghana politics.
Two Encounters have been held so far for Dr.
Abu Sakara Foster and Mr.
Hassan Ayariga, Presidential Candidates of the Convention People’s Party and the People’s National Convention respectively.
The Evening Encounter with Hon.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP Presidential Candidate was earlier scheduled for the 7th August, 2012.
According to the IEA the decision to postpone was “in view of the funeral arrangement for the late President, His Excellency John Evans Atta Mills”.
The Evening Encounter with Nana Akufo-Addo will be held at Ghana- India Kofi Annan ICT Centre (on the G.I.J Road, Ridge).
