Dr. Wampah to run Central Bank
Dr. Wampah to run Central Bank Government has backed the two Deputy Governors to do a good job at holding the fort at the Bank of Ghana until a substantive governor is appointed.

The first Deputy Governor Dr. H. A. K. Wampah is now acting as the head of the Central Bank after Kwesi Amissah-Arthur was nominated by President John Mahama to be Vice President.

Government has still not given any clear indications it would appoint a substantive governor between now and December but has expressed confidence in the two deputies to hold the fort well within the period.

Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Seth Tekpeh speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday described Dr. Wampah as a “very seasoned Central Banker in his own right.”

According to him, “the appointment of a governor is a prerogative of the President and at the appropriate time we will get to know whether Dr. Wampah remains in acting position or some confirmation appointment will be made.”

Seth Tekpeh thus assured the nation that Dr. Wampah together with his colleague deputy are very seasoned Central Bankers and will hold the mantle and stir the affairs at the Bank of Ghana.
