Council of State pledges loyalty to Prez. Mahama
Council of State pledges loyalty to Prez. Mahama The constitutional body mandated to advice the President on a myriad of issues - the Council of State – has pledged its support and loyalty to President John Mahama to give him good counsel whenever needed.

This was said when members of the Council of State called on the President at the seat of government to mourn with him following the death of President John Evans Atta Mills.

The chairman of the Council, Professor Kofi Awoonor said, “we deem it opportune to call upon you before we enter into the final days of the funeral.

“We want to assure you of our loyal support. We give you our sympathy as the chief mourner under these circumstances and to express to you our willingness to work with you as the group who have been carefully selected to form that team that would speak to the President and his men and women, ministers and such other personalities that he has put in key positions in the governance of this country.”

Prof. Awoonor added: “We remain, Mr. President, at your disposal and we assure you that we would not let you down. We hope to assist you to carry on your work not only for this period, but prayerfully into the future.”

On his part, President Mahama thanked the members and praised them for their diligence when they dealt with late President Mills.

He, however, asked that the same level of wisdom and even more be used in guiding and counseling him even as they all stride to build a better Ghana.
