A pro-Spio-Garbrah group within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has kicked against the selection of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur as Vice President.

The Government on Tuesday announced that Amissah-Arthur had been chosen to partner President John Mahama to run the affairs of the State and is yet to receive approval from Parliament.

But the Secretary of the NDC Youth Coalition, William Ayibi Acquah, said Amissah-Arthur is not well known amongst the youth and grass root supporters of the party.

According to him, a former Minister of Communications, Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, under the Rawlings led-administration would have been an ideal choice.

Acquah told Citi News, “we the youth who are working tirelessly for the NDC, we don’t know him.

“When we heard he had been appointed, none of us could immediately put a face to the name. When we were fighting to come to power again, it was Spio-Garbrah who worked so hard to bring the party back into power.”
