Prez. Mills’ burial place still undecided
The burial place of late President John Evans Atta Mills is yet to be decided contrary to earlier reports that the President would be buried at the Flagstaff House.
This was disclosed by Communications Minister Haruna Iddrisu who early on disclosed that government had decided on a portion of the Flagstaff House to be used as the burial site for Presidents of Ghana when they pass.
According to Haruna Iddrisu, the committee set up to draw the funeral plan for the late president are yet to meet with government and members of President John Mills’ family to agree on the final burial place.
The family have since the demise of the late president called for his remains to be buried at his hometown Ekumfi Otuam in the Central region but government also said the late President would be buried here in Accra.
The decision to finally decide on where the president should be buried came up after President John Mahama visited the home region and hometown of President Mills to officially inform them of the demise of the president.
The announcement of the new place of burial would be announced in due course. Government has however announced August 8 to 10 as the period for the funeral and burial of President John Mills who passed on July 24 in Accra.
