The President of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, has described Ghana’s late President John Evans Atta Mills as “a humble and trusted leader” that Africa has lost.
In a message of condolence to the people of Ghana, Kim said: “It is with deep sorrow that we learned the passing of President John Evans Atta Mills, President of the Republic of Ghana.”
He added: “Ghana, and Africa has lost a great, humble and trusted leader.”
“On my own behalf, and on behalf of the entire staff of the World Bank Group, may I express our heartfelt condolences to the government and the people of Ghana, particularly to the late President’s wife, Her Excellency Ernestina Naadu Mills and to his entire family.
“Our thoughts are with you all in these sorrowful moments.”
President Mills passed away on July 24 at the 37 Military Hospital.
