Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah has said he is excited to be playing alongside his idol Andrea Pirlo at Juventus.
The 23-year-old who joined the Turin-based club from Udinese last month said he has always admired the Italian World Cup-winning footballer.
“Who was my idol as a child?
He is still the best for me, because he always plays well,” Football Italia quoted Asamoah from the club’s pre-season base at Valle d’Aosta.
“He has so much experience, but never changes and for me he is the most important player.”
The 33-year-old is rated one of the best midfielders in the last decade and he re-established that at the just ended European championship in Poland and Ukraine.
The duo will form a strong midfield combination for the Italian Serie A champions Juventus.
“It’s the best thing in my life, because Juventus are a very big club, who won the championship last year.
I have seen many of their games and I am very happy to be here,” he said.
Asamoah praised Bianconneri coach Antonio Conte for the good relationship he has had with him.
He also thanked the fans for their support and stressed that the shouts of his name ‘Asa, Asa, Asa’ have helped him settle well.
