Ecobank adjudged 2012 Best Bank in Ghana
Ecobank adjudged 2012 Best Bank in Ghana Ecobank Ghana has been named “Best Bank in Ghana” by the leading international finance magazine, Euromoney. The awards were presented at the 2012 Euromoney Awards for Excellence Dinner in London. The Ecobank Group also scooped the award for Best Bank in Africa.

Regarded as the flagship awards for financial services globally, the Euromoney Awards for Excellence are now in their 22nd consecutive year. This year’s awards process, which began in April, attracted over 600 submissions from the world’s banks and brokerage houses. In deciding on the award winners, Euromoney’s dedicated research team and awards panel rated all the submissions on both quantitative and qualitative factors, such as KPIs, financial ratios and innovation, over the past 12 months.

Commenting on why Ecobank Ghana was selected for the award, Euromoney Editor, Clive Horwood, explained: “The bank’s growth and success story has continued in 2011. It is now the largest bank in the country following the merger with The Trust Bank Ghana (‘TTB’), with a network of 78branches and a presence in 8 of the country’s 10 regions. It is also the largest in terms of profitability, deposits and net worth, making it the worthy winner of best bank in Ghana this year.”

Samuel Adjei, Managing Director of Ecobank’s Ghana, said: "This award recognizes Ecobank Ghana’s record of strong organic growth, as well as our contribution to the economy and society in Ghana. The acquisition of TTB was a landmark transaction, consolidating our market leadership.
