Isofoton case: Court rejects AG’s plea for stay of execution
Isofoton case: Court rejects AG’s plea for stay of execution An Accra High Court has thrown out an application for stay of execution filed by the Attorney General in the Isofoton judgment debt case, where the Spanish company has secured a garnishee order on a Ministry of Agriculture account.

According to the trial judge, Justice Ernest Obimpeh, there were no special circumstances to warrant the granting of the application.

Isofoton SA garnisheed the ministry’s account after the State failed to pay them an amount of $1.3 million in a judgment debt settlement following the wrongful termination of a contract to provide solar powered irrigation pumping machines.

The State had only paid $400,000 out of the agreed amount hence the garnishee order.

With the current ruling, Isofoton representatives in Ghana have given the indication that they will be heading to the Bank of Ghana to press for the balance.
