A bridegroom died during his honeymoon in Portugal after falling 60ft from a cliff following a romantic meal with his new wife.
Brian Orton, 45, was returning to his Albufeira hotel in the dark with bride Catherine when he lost his footing on a cliff path.
It was unclear whether he had fallen from the top of the path or from an open-air escalator built into the cliff face at the popular resort.
His wife, 40, was walking ahead at the time and only realised he had disappeared when she called out to him and got no reply.
His body was found by hotel staff after a 90-minute search.
It is believed the gas engineer, from Coundon, near Bishop Auckland in County Durham, plunged up to 60ft in the tragedy on July 1.
The newlyweds arrived in Albufeira for their 10-day honeymoon on June 25, four days after they were married.
