Write Away 2012 contest launches Saturday
Write Away 2012 contest launches Saturday After last year’s unprecedented Write Away Writing Campaign where 10 eventual winners were treated to a fun-filled educative trip to South Africa and the UK, 97.3Citi FM has once again kick-started another journey to unearth the nation’s best budding literary talent.

The Write Away Contest 2012 is slated to be launched officially on Saturday, 23 June at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel. The Write Away Contest has evolved over a period of seven years to become the nation’s most anticipated writing contest for school pupils and the excitement and competitive spirit that the competition triggers is expected to be at an all time high this year.

The launch which is usually characterised by inspiring speeches from foremost members of the country’s intelligentsia as well as some fanfare will also serve as the maiden platform for this year’s Write Away topic to be unveiled.

Meanwhile, a number of student interactions dubbed ‘Write Away Student Engagement sessions’ are being held countrywide to sensitise students about the Write Away Contest.

Already a number of schools within the capital city have played host to the ‘Write Away’ engagement team. So far, schools such as Star Avenue, Christ the King, Mary Mother of Good Counsel, Adabraka Roman, Adabraka St. Joseph, Osu Presby, Adabraka Presby, DEKS, Tema Parents, Creator, De Youngsters, Engelbert, Christian Vertical Centre, Susan Owusu Memorial, Jack and Jill and Alsyd Academy have been visited.

The students had the unique privilege of interacting with Citi FM personalities such as host of Brunch in the Citi and Programs Manager, Jessica Opare-Saforo, Host of Eyewitness News, Shamima Muslim, Events Manager, Yvonne Boaten, as well as Events Coordinators Jimmy Quist, Anim Boadu and Mary Sakyiwaa Mensah.

The Write Away Campaign 2012 is sponsored by Merchant Bank, SIC Life and Indomie Noodles. It is also supported by Junior Graphic, Guide Young Blazers, The Host and The Globe newspaper.
