Agyenim-Boateng: Return to Info Ministry not for election propaganda
Agyenim-Boateng: Return to Info Ministry not for election propaganda The deputy Information Minister, James Agyenim-Boateng, has said his return to the ministry is not for propaganda purposes ahead of the December general elections but to help the government retain power.

Mr. Agyenim-Boateng said his return to the ministry only indicates that the President of Ghana John Evans Atta Mills believes in his ability and competence to deliver at every sector of government.

President Mills on Wednesday made a number of ministerial changes with Hon. Agyenim-Boateng returning to the Information Ministry after a year at the Tourism Ministry as a deputy minister. He swaps position with Baba Jamal.

One time stand-up comedian and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Fritz Baffour, has been appointed the Minister-designate for Information replacing John Akologo Tia.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Thursday, Hon. Agyenim-Boateng said his return is only to augment government’s information delivery machinery and to complete the task ahead by securing another term for President Mills.

“My understanding is that there is a task that we have to do and we have to do it to the best of our ability. We have to be honest and sincere to the Ghanaian public,” Agyenim-Boateng said.

He added that “we’ve got to show conduct, be accommodating and clearly articulate the position of government. For me that is the fact, whether it is an election or not governments at all times must be credible and divulge information to the Ghanaian people.”
