More and more people are getting to use the ATMs of banks other than that of their own banks.
This is shown in the significant increase in the number of interbank ATM transactions recorded over the first quarter of this year.
Last year, the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) introduced the gh-link interbank ATM transaction switching, which enables the ATM of some 20 banks to accept all local ATM cards regardless of which bank issued the card.
Figures from GhIPSS indicate that the patronage for the interbank ATM jumped by 183 percent from over seven thousand three hundred 7,300 in January to over twenty thousand transactions (20,000) in March this year.
There was a similar increase in the value of transactions during the same period from over GHC 800,000 to GHC 2.3 million.
