Akatsi South by-elections ongoing The people of Akatsi South in the Volta Region have commenced the process to elect a new Member of Parliament for the area.

The seat became vacant after the sitting MP, Doe Ajaho was elevated to the position of Speaker of Parliament.

Candidates from the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the National Democratic Party (NDP) and an independent candidate will be contesting.

The Electoral Commission has expressed its readiness to conduct a peaceful exercise.

The Principal Public Relations Officer of the Commission Sylvia Annor told Citi News, the electorate in the constituencies are expected to abide by the rules guiding the by-elections.

“The rules and regulations that we adhered to in 2012 are the same regulations that they have to abide by and we expect voters to conduct themselves well and go through the process quietly.”
