Gabby Otchere Darko,Executive Secretary of the Danquah Institute
The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko has asked Ghanaians to direct their anger over alleged rigging that took place during the December 7 elections at the Electoral Commission (EC).
Addressing a public forum organized by pro-opposition group, AFAG, Mr. Otchere Darko said the EC compromised its position and allowed the rigging to take place.
“We are talking about democracy and you are saying that because the integrity of a party agent has been compromised, the party and Ghanaians need to shut up? The election is not about the political party but the Ghanaian,” he stated.
Mr. Otchere Darko further added, “It’s the ECs compromise that matters. Should you say that because my watchman was asleep and I left the door open and there was a burglary. If I see the thief going but because I was negligent I should let the thief go?”
The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it will challenge the results of the presidential elections in court because the EC rigged the elections in favor of the governing NDC.
