Gov’t to reduce housing deficit in educational sector- Prez Mahama
Gov’t to reduce housing deficit in educational sector- Prez Mahama Teachers across the country will soon benefit from an aggressive housing project by government, President Mahama has said.

According to him, government will embark on the project on various campuses as part of efforts to reduce the housing deficit in the educational sector.

He said teachers in the country will receive the needed attention and remuneration under his government to ensure they are in the right state of mind for improved teaching and learning.
He was speaking at an annual meeting with a selected number of students at the castle.

“The most important factor is a well trained and motivated teacher to ensure quality education. The teacher must be well trained if this is not so, we cannot get the best out of such a teacher,” he said.

According to President Mahama, “Government is trying to tackle all factors simultaneously. I hope that the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) has enhanced teacher’s salaries a bit and we’ll continue to increase incomes so that teachers will be able to teach properly”.

“We are bringing a programme of housing for the teachers. We will build houses on campuses of especially the Senior High Schools so that they [teachers] are able to live on campus rather than looking for accommodation in the community,” he added.
