Burkinabe hauled before court for murder The Asamankese Magistrate court has remanded the Burkinabe who allegedly killed his 20 year old cousin into police custody on a provisional charge of murder.

The Burkinabe whose name has been given as Kumi Atow on Tuesday reportedly killed his cousin Somi Dapler during a fight over a memory card.

The incident happened at Oweremu a suburb of Asamankese in the Eastern region.

In an interview with Citi News Asamankese Police Commander DSP Yaya Muchiraru said the suspect is scheduled to re-appear before court on January 16, 2013.

“The fact is that he has been put before court and is currently on remand. During the interrogation, he admitted to the crime so provisionally, we will charge him for murder and the docket will be prepared and forwarded to the Attorney General’s office for direction,” he stated.

DSP Muchiraru added the police had contacted family members in Burkina Faso and they are yet to arrive.

We have been able to get into contact with some of the Burkinabes staying around and they in turn called the family members but they are yet to get here,” he added.
