NCA advised to be tougher in applying sanctions against Telcos
NCA advised to be tougher in applying sanctions against Telcos Market watchers in the Telecom industry have urged the National Communications Authority (NCA) to impose tougher sanctions to get Telcos to provide better services to their clients.

Telecom operators have come under fire for some time now over the poor quality of service they render.

Despite the application of sanctions against them by the NCA, the quality of service provided by Telecom operators in the country is still poor.

Recently, the NCA directed MTN to put on hold the sale of new sim cards as well as halt new subscriber add-ons because of the deteriorating quality of its network.

A market watcher in the Telecom industry, Foaud Challaby told Citi Business News the provision of poor quality of service by Telcos may continue till the NCA applies the right sanctions.

“The NCA is not really imposing the right sanctions on all operators when it comes to quality of services. You cannot confidently point to any of the Telcos and say they are providing good quality services.”

“The only competition you can point out to is price cutting but this not the solution because at the end of the day we want something that works, if it’s cheap and does not give you value it makes no sense,” he added.
