AIDS Commission enjoins media to advocate against stigmatization
AIDS Commission enjoins media to advocate against stigmatization The Ghana Aids Commission (GAC) is advocating laws which will protect people living with AIDS against stigmatization.

It has thus called on the media to join in the advocacy to protect victims of this decease.

They [GAC] are asking the media to help in the advocacy on the laws on HIV to protect people living with HIV from being sacked from their jobs and stigmatized.

Speaking to the media in Ho in the Volta Region, Mr. Osei of the policy office of the Ghana Aids Commission said though they were working hard towards the law, the Ghana Aids Commission needed the strong advocacy powers of the media to fast track issues on the law on HIV.

Dr Richard Amenyah, the technical adviser of the Ghana Aids Commission said though allegations were being laid from time to time, the evidence to back them were not forthcoming thus making people suffer from stigma when they didn't have to.

He encouraged Ghanaians to forward such information to the Ghana Aids Commission to aid in the tackling of the disease.
