General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of attempting to massage the election figures to facilitate their victory.
“The NDC are hell-bent, despite the fact that they are trailing, on wanting to massage the figures and set up the processes so that they are declared winners. It will not wash,” he said.
Speaking at a press conference at the NPP headquarters, the General Secretary called on the Electoral Commission to ensure that figures did not emanate from any other source but theirs [EC].
“We will not accept any figures coming from any source other the true source of the E.C. Afari Gyan has confirmed to the NPP that when the results are being taken at the strong room, it will be faxed. It will not be taken through any other medium,” he stated.
Sir John further opined, “The people are very angry, if Afari Gyan and the NDC do not know. The people want their votes counted for Nana Akufo-Addo and they will not accept anything less than that”.
“The clergy, press, civil society groups and all Ghanaians should pat themselves on the back for a good job done. When the processes began, people thought the country was going to be up in flames but we have not witnessed that. I can say that it also due to the eternal vigilance of our supporters who ensured that no ballot box was snatched,” he added.
He urged Ghanaians to remain calm and focused as the results will be announced by tomorrow evening.
