The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has stated that the four Vice Presidential candidates who will participate in Tuesday’s debate will be permitted to make references to hard copy materials during the debate.
The presidential candidate for the People’s National Convention (PNC), Hassan Ayariga accused his competitors at the IEA’s Presidential Debate of having an upper hand in the debate because they had available materials and documents in their possession.
Speaking to Citi News
, the Research Officer at the IEA, Ransford Gyampo explained that only electronic gadgets would not be allowed.
He said: “One of the things which was discussed was that the various presidential candidates could carry manifestos, they could carry documents to the debate grounds and they can make reference to that. The only thing they were prevented from taking there was electronic devices.”
He explained that the Institute wanted to avert situations where “somebody could send you an e-mail to help you answer the questions and all that.”
Meanwhile, the Police in the Western Region are beefing up security ahead of the IEA vice Presidential Candidate debate which is scheduled to take place at Akroma Plaza Hotel in Takoradi.
The Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ransford Ninson stated that his outfit has already drawn the operational order for the control of traffic and security.
