Mahama stops payment of new Exec salaries
Mahama stops payment of new Exec salaries President John Dramani Mahama has requested Parliament to consider a review of the emoluments approved for the Executive arm of government.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the President, J. K. Bebaako Mensah, stated that President Mahama has ordered the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning to withhold authorization for payment of any new emoluments for the executive.

Citi News first broke the news that Parliament had authorized a pay rise for the President of the Republic, the Vice President and other key members of the Executive arm of government.

At a closed sitting last Wednesday, lawmakers voted to raise the consolidated monthly pay of the President to about GhC12, 000.

The Vice President's pay has also ballooned to almost GhC 10,500.

Per last Wednesday’s vote, Ministers of State and their deputies are to earn between GhC 8,000 and GhC 9000.

The President’s order for the review by the legislature under Article 71 of the Constitution is to align more realistically with the original recommendations by the Professor Ewuraama Addy Committee.
