President John Dramani Mahama’s move to ensure a clean environment for a better Ghana is making progress as the National Sanitation Task Force intensifies its nationwide clean up exercises.
The President in line with his vision to clear the nation of filth inaugurated the National Sanitation Task Force and directed all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to organize clean up exercises every weekend.
The Task Force is operating under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in collaboration the Zoom Alliance.
In the nation’s capital Accra, Adenta, Tema communities one and two, Ashaiman, Nungua, Teshie, Korle- Gono, New Town and Pigfarm among other communities have since been cleared of filth.
As part of the seventh week exercise, the Task Force dissilted chocked gutters, weeded and fumigated some part of Odorko and Lapaz on Saturday.
The Okaikoi North Sub-Metro Supervising Officer of Zoom Lion Ghana, Raphael Lokko decried the low enthusiasm attached to the exercise by residents of the beneficiary communities.
According to him, public education on the exercise was ongoing and pleaded with Ghanaians to place premium on the exercise for their own good.
Raphael said the Task Force remained focused on achieving the desired results and would leave no stone unturned in pursuing the agenda.
