Election 2012: Tema West will be developed - Ofosu-Ampofo The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Tema West Constituency Hon. Samuel Ofosu–Ampofo has pledged to ensure a massive developmental growth under the influence of humility when voted into office come December 7, 2012.

Launching his campaign last Friday, Hon. Ofosu-Ampofo who doubles as the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development revealed that about GHC 1,000,000 million has been released to rehabilitate the sewage system in Tema Community 3.

He gave the assurance that the new mortuary which is currently under construction at the Tema General Hospital will soon be completed to avoid congestion and regular transfer of corpse to other mortuaries.

According to him, the vast development which the constituency has seen under his initiative as an aspiring MP, will continue to reign and will not be influenced by incumbency.

He expressed regret at the politics of insult that has characterized the activities of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and assured that he will rather concentrate on bringing more development to his constituency than to engage in politics of insults.

“Insults don’t win votes, it is unhealthy and not good for our young democracy…let’s talk about development and what we can do for each other,” he said.

He called on the electorates to ensure that the NDC gets a majority of representation in Parliament in order to compliment the work of President John Mahama.

On behalf of President John Mahama, the NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia who officially introduced Hon. Ofosu-Ampofo as the aspiring MP for Tema –West constituency lauded his commitment to ensuring development even though he is yet to represent the constituency in parliament.

According to Mr. Nketia, he is confident that Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo will not fail the people of Tema–West constituency, having seen the on-going construction of a modern Police Station for the Lashibi community, equipping the police with 40 mobile phones to help control crime, fixing of streetlights at Lashibi, Sakumono, Tema Community 3, Community 5 and among other developments which are all under his initiative.

He urged the constituents to vote for President Mahama and Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo come December 7 for a massive facelift of the Tema Drydoc and the full activation of the Volta Aluminium Company in other to provide adequate job opportunities for the constituents.

Former Local government minister who was also a Foreign Affairs Minister under the NDC 1 government of Ex President Rawlings, Prof. Ato Kwamena Ahwoi, also used the opportunity to correct perceptions that, they are missing in action as far as activities in the party are concerned.
He said, they have decided to stay back and advice the young and vibrant NDC leadership to ensure a better Ghana for all.

The event was graced by the presence of the NDC’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, former Local Government and Foreign Affairs Minister, Ato Kwamina Ahwoi, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon Nii Laryea Afortey Agbo, Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu, former Minister of Education, former MP for the area, Gladys Boateng, Dan Abodakpi , MPs, celebrated media personalities among other various grassroots members of the NDC.
