Wean yourselves off 'Kweku Ananse' politicians - Jacob Osei Yeboah
Wean yourselves off 'Kweku Ananse' politicians - Jacob Osei Yeboah The only independent candidate contesting the December general elections, Jacob Osei Yeboah, has called on Ghanaians to wean themselves off "tricksters" and deceitful political figures in order to develop the country.

Speaking on Citi FM's weekly political discussion programme Inside Politics, he noted that politicians who only pay lip service to the people do not deserve to be appointed to serve the people.

"We are in a society where Kweku Ananse is our hero. So anyone who thinks like Kweku Ananse, speaks like Kweku Ananse, is seen as a hero in our society... that is who we are and that is something that we buy."

He however called on Ghanaians to put their trust in him because "someone who really wants to trick Ghanaians will not put himself at the greatest disadvantage."

Mr. Yeboah also proposed the creation of an Upper Chamber for Ghana’s Parliament.

The Upper Chamber is the British equivalent for the House of Lords and the United States’ Congress which acts as a check on Bills passed by the Lower House of Parliament.

According to him, the introduction will address the concern of all minority groups in the nation.

“We will need our traditional leaders over there, our religious leaders, the business community and some key stakeholder institutions. It should cut across the spectrum of our society. This mindset supersedes the current council of state selected by the President of State himself,” he explained.
