13 rioters remanded in Police custody 13 rioters who were part of a mob which robbed taxi drivers at the Nima - Maamobi highway last week have been remanded in police custody by an Accra Circuit Court to reappear on the 27th September.

A group of thugs last week blocked the Nima –Maamobi high way at dawn and robbed some taxi drivers of their monies.

The group also smashed the wind screen of a police vehicle leading to their arrest.

In an interview with Citi News, the Public Relations Officer at the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Freeman Tetteh said the suspects have been charged with causing riot.

He explained saying, “we all know there was a confrontation at the night club and this was extended to Nima and that created a lot of security problem in the area and the first batch of Police personnel who arrived came under intense attack with the Police vehicle being damaged and reinforcement led to the arrest of the 13.”

DSP Tettey cautioned that “whoever decides to take the law into his or her own hands has him or herself to blame.”
