The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has said that the President’s Private Sector Advisory Council is in line with creating a direct link with stakeholders in the private sector.
The Executive Director of AGI, Seth Twum Akwaboah told
Citi Business News, the council will enhance moves to expediting the full implementation of the Private Sector Development Strategy II.
Under the strategy, Ghana’s economy is expected to be transformed into a more productive and efficient-driven economy to compete internationally.
The Executive Director of AGI, Seth Twum Akwaboah told
Citi Business News “naturally, we have a council chaired by the President himself and there are a lot of private sector operators on the council which means that there will be more direct communication between the President and the council members and you’d also have a direct communication with operators of industry and the private sector.”
This according to him, has brings about a lot of positive developments for the private sector “because the President is dealing directly with them, they will be updated on a daily basis, the key issues and together they can come up with ideas and solutions in dealing with those issues.
So for me it is a positive development.”
Mr.
Twum Akwaboah also expressed the believe that the second phase of the Private Sector Development Strategies will not be affected even if governments change.
He said: “The whole idea of policy is that they are not just for one particular government but it is supposed to be implemented over a period and I think if you use the Private Sector Development Strategies, it is for the long term and therefore whether it is four months for a particular term to end or not, it does not matter.”
Adding that “what is important is that we have a clear policy, a clear strategy and we all make efforts to implement the strategies to the core so that it benefits everybody.”
