About 325 houses have been destroyed by floods in the Sandema district of the Upper East Region.
So far, the situation has rendered about 715 people homeless while several acres of farmlands and livestocks have been washed away.
The District Chief Executive for Sandema, Norbert Awulley in an interview with
Citi News stated that “the Sandema Township is the worst affected area and the road linking Sandema to Navrongo has been destroyed.
Some buildings at the Sandema Senior High School have also been affected.”
According to him, NADMO is on the ground assessing the situation for quick response.
Meanwhile, President John Mahama has made a trip up north to assess the floods that have ravaged some towns in Bawku, Zebila and the Talensi-Nabdam districts in the Upper East region.
