The Central Regional Police Command has deployed some police personnel to Ayanfuri in the Central Region to prevent further attacks on the workers of Pursues Mining Company.
On Thursday, the police arrested four persons when the youth in Ayanfuri clashed with workers of the mines over a mining concession.
The mining concession, according to the youth, was given to them by AngloGold Ashanti when the company was leaving the area.
But Pursues Mining maintains they legally acquired the property from AngloGold Ashanti.
The Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Andoh Kwofie told
Citi News, the suspects who were arrested during the clashes have been granted bail.
He said: “It is a bailable offence and so we have granted them bail.
Although the place is calm, we have deployed some of our personnel there just to prevent any further clashes.”
DCOP Kwofie, however, added that the suspects will be arraigned before a court of law when investigations are completed.
