The 2012-2013 Barclays Premier League season is almost upon us. This can only mean one thing—Fantasy Premier League.

One of the most beloved fantasy games available, the Fantasy Premier League has over 2.5 million players and allows you to create a squad of 15 players from the Premier League teams.

Luckily while your team fails to live up to the unbelievably high expectations placed upon them during the summer, you can show them all how it’s done by registering your team to take part in Citi FM’s shiny new official Premier League fantasy league! Catchy isn’t it?

So how do you get your team together?

In brief, what you need (if you know what it is already):

If you don’t understand the concept, don’t worry! Here is a guide

Each week 11 players are picked, and based on their performance, points are tallied up. There are several ways to score points.

For playing up to 60 minutes (1 point)
For playing 60 minutes or more (2 points)
For each goal scored by a goalkeeper or defender (6 points)
For each goal scored by a midfielder (5 points)
For each goal scored by a forward (4 point)
For each goal assist (3 point)
For a clean sheet by a goalkeeper or defender (4 point)
For a clean sheet by a midfielder (1 point)
For every 3 shot saves by a goalkeeper (1 point)
For each penalty save (5 point)
For each penalty miss (-2 points)
Bonus points for the best players in a match (1-3)
For every 2 goals conceded by a goalkeeper or defender (-1)
For each yellow card (-1)
For each red card (-3)
For each own goal (-2)

Obviously the first squad that you choose is the one that should be created with the most thought, as you are only allowed one transfer per week; you can make more transfer but that results in a deduction of four points per transfer.

But if you find yourself hopeless in the middle of the season, FPL also allows you to use two wildcards which gives you the opportunity to revamp your entire team at no extra deduction.

One of these wildcards can be used anytime, while the other has to be used in January.

To start:
1- Go to the Official Barclays Premier League Fantasy League website here: http://fantasy.premierleague.com/
2- Enter your email address and other details to register.
3- When you get in, select the “MY TEAM” tab.
4- You are given 100 million pounds to buy a squad of players
5- You can choose players from all clubs that will be competing in the EPL this season
6- Select your first eleven, and reserve players.

Now this is the important part.

1- Select the “Leagues” tab
2- When you do that, you will see “Join a league”, “Create a league” and “Renew a league”
3- Select “Join a league”
4- You will be given two options: “Private League” and “Public League”
5- Select “Private League” and click “next”
6- You will be asked to enter the league code.
7- Enter this code: 1411172-323627
8- Click “Join Private League”
You are done!

Be quick, the first game week starts this weekend so in order to give yourself the best chance of winning you need to register by tomorrow, Friday, August 17, at the latest.

Now to be consistent and to give yourself a great chance of winning the Citi Premier League, you have play the part of a real manager. You have to select players before every week’s games based on their performances in real life.

So, for example, if Petr Cech is your goalkeeper and you use him this week, but he suddenly gets an injury in real life and cannot play next week, then it means that if you use him in your league you won’t get any points!
