The Chairman of the Africa Union, Yayi Boni has described the death of President John Mills as a great loss to the union.

President Yayi Boni who is also the President of Benin before the burial ceremony of the late President John Mills told the media that President Mills was one President who had Africa at heart, depicting a quality as that of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

“For us, this is a great loss to the continent because Atta Mills was very humble. When I came six months ago to discuss the Mali crisis, we talked about the future of our continent. I found in him that he continued to live the heritage and vision of Ghana’s first President Nkrumah,” he mentioned.

President Boni also stated that the people of Benin have lost a gem in President’s death and called on Ghanaians to forge ahead in unity.

He said: “I would like to ask of the people of Ghana to keep the unity and to continue the vision of President Atta Mills.”
