Asem
Asem The first time I heard about ASEM, I didn’t like him. I didn’t like his crass and suggestive single.

Gimme me blow for me could have been a good simple party song without all the insinuations. But it caught on like wildfire and soon he becomes the hottest thing on the Ghanaian music scene.

And not only did the St. Peters secondary product prove his prowess in creativity but also in his writing skills. ASEM’s popularity came swiftly with his unique contemporary style and touted as one of the artists to lead the evolution of Hip-life into what has come to be known as GH Rap.

ASEM proved he is more than just a guy stringing along loose words over a keyboard. He knows the ART.

Nana Wiafe Asante Mensah, as he is known in private life, enrolled in Ghana Institute of Journalism from 2006 to 2008 for a diploma in communications studies.

With the help of Richie, a singer/producer/sound engineer and C.E.O. of Lynx Entertainment, ASEM rediscovered and reinvented himself.

Like any career, ASEM has had his own share of troubles. More than two years back it was rumoured that artiste forcibly having sex with an under-aged girl, there was speculation that the unfortunate incident caused a fallen out with the management of his label, Lynx Entertainment.

But that didn’t bring down the determined ASEM and soon he was out with another single, No more Kpayor which became an instant hit receiving massive airplay.

Asem has been consistent ever since, writing hit songs, like the little things that you do by songstress Efya and Runaway featuring Irene Logan. ASEM is certainly talented.

Currently the award-winning Ghanaian rapper cum song writer just launched his second Album titled Solid Ground which is now in music shops and stores across the country.

Asked why he chose Solid Ground as the title for his new work, ASEM explained that “success and living your life under the spotlight comes with a lot of merits and demerits and one needs to be strong and stand firm on solid ground or he she might be swallowed by sinking sands.”
ASEM has come long way.
