Bongo District Hospital and ECG Achimota sub-station burnt
Bongo District Hospital and ECG Achimota sub-station burnt The Bongo District Hospital Theatre in the Upper East Region has been completely burnt to ground.

The fire, which started around 3pm on Saturday, raged for close to an hour before personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene.

According to Citi FM Upper East Regional Correspondent, Agana Bawa, almost every item in the theatre has been burnt to ashes.

It is not clear what caused the fire although some believe it was sparked by an electrical fault.

Meanwhile, here in Accra, the Achimota sub-station of the Electricity Company of Ghana was also gutted by fire during Saturday’s rain. Citi News Editor, Richard Mensah was at the scene and reported that “the substation which services areas like Pig Farm, Achimota, Kotobabi and other areas is on fire and there is no fire service tender as I speak now. The fire is just raging on.”

According to him the fire started a while after Saturday’s rain. “There is no Police and fire service presence as I speak to you now.”
