V/R Minister, Henry Ford Kamel passes on
V/R Minister, Henry Ford Kamel passes on Information reaching Citi News indicates that the Volta Regional Minster, Henry Ford Kamel has passed away.

The news was confirmed on the Facebook page of the Presidential Spokesperson, John Abdulai Jinapor where he wrote "Such a sad news this festive season.'RIP' , Hon. Henry Ford Kamel, Volta Regional Minister."

The late Minister is reported to have died on Tuesday, December 25 before arriving at the Jasikan Hospital in the Volta Region after a short illness.

The late Minster was the Member of Parliament elect for Buem Constituency in the Region.

The Minister is said to have collapsed in the house, at Guaman, in the district.

Before assuming the position, Mr Kamel, a Banker, was Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.

His first major task as Regional Minister was the settling of Zongo-Gbi community upheaval at Hohoe.

Mr Kamel had been a passionate advocate of tourism and agriculture-led economic transformation of the Volta Region.

He had on many platforms spoken about the building of a jetty at the coast around Keta, where a petrochemical industry is anticipated, market-led redirection of the region’s tourism potentials and a complete overhaul of agriculture on business considerations.

Mr Kamel left behind a wife and three children
