The Greater Accra Regional Branch of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has denied media reports that an Accra High Court has placed an injunction on the party’s upcoming election in the region.
Reports indicate that an Accra High Court had placed an interim injunction restricting the Greater Accra Regional NDC from holding elections for various positions in the party.
Further reports said that the ruling also restricts the regional executive committee of the party from selling, receiving or endorsing nomination forms from the constituency to the regional level.
But speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Anthony Nukpenu said “the party has not yet received any letter from any court in Ghana banning us from holding any election. I dont think I will take such a publication seriously”
“I think as a political movement we were never served any writ of summons to even appear in Court,,” he added.
According to him, the party will take necessary steps to address the issues raised by the Court if a written judgement is served the party.
He stated that the party will go ahead with its upcoming congress saying “we are swinging in motion, we are not backing down until the legal team of the party tells us to restrain ourselves from holding the congress.”
